Trump Told Freedom Caucus To 'Forget The Little S***' In Repeal Bill

Schumer to House GOP on Obama Care repeal 'Turn back before it's too late'

Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan were forced to withdraw the legislation moments before a vote, having failed to round up enough support for passage - leaving the president's campaign pledge to dismantle his predecessor's health care reforms unfulfilled. Most publications and commentators were clear on one thing: None of this was Trump's fault.

And sources said that Trump told conservatives on Thursday that they're asking for a lot while he told moderates that they've already received a lot.

Republican lawmakers introduced a replacement bill earlier this month that would strip the mandate requiring all Americans to buy health insurance, CNN reported Thursday.

The GOP bill, H.R. 1628, would reverse massive gains in health coverage under the Affordable Care Act, which brought the uninsured rate to a record low.

But the health care bill debacle has commentators questioning the Trump administration's ability to negotiate big reforms through Congress.

Still, Ryan said he was optimistic. The Trump administration couldn't muster the votes to make it pass.

Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., said, "You always build on your last accomplishment". Trump said in his joint address to Congress that his plan "would provide massive tax relief for the middle class". People who lose their health coverage tend to show up in emergency rooms, where the cost for their care is expensive and often falls back on the state.

Technically, tax reform passed through reconciliation still can't add to the deficit.

Don't tell that to House Republicans who have been struggling with the issue for years.

Trump has outlined an ambitious legislative agenda for his first year that includes overhauling the federal tax code, passing a $1 trillion infrastructure plan, and deeply cutting the federal budget. Disabuse yourself of that notion and you may begin to make some progress in Washington where the citizens of America deserve better than a leader who attempts to rule through lies, disinformation, prevarication, dissembling, artless legerdemain, and willful ignorance of the most basic processes.

For example, almost 34 million families claimed the mortgage interest deduction in 2016, reducing their tax bills by $65 billion.

He has cast himself as a master salesman and the "closer" who can win over allies in the most hard of circumstances through some combination of his winning personality and take-no-prisoners approach to negotiations. The deduction reduced their federal tax bills by almost $70 billion.

"The danger is that a wounded president and his GOP allies will act on their sore feelings by irresponsibly attacking the existing health care system in other ways", a Washington Post editorial said. He said it would be introduced soon.

House Republicans have released a blueprint that outlines their goals for a tax overhaul. "So when it explodes, they come to us, and we make one attractive deal for the people".

House leaders are pushing for a border adjustment tax, which would subject importers to higher taxes than exporters or companies that produce products in the USA for domestic consumption.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

Update: The Upshot is tracking whip counts of Republican no votes being compiled by seven different news organizations. He was speaking at a public interview event with the news site Axios.

Even closer to home, in the center of the universe, the city so nice they named it twice, New York, New York, Dan Donovan, the only Congressional Republican in the five boroughs, wrote an op-ed in the Staten Island Advance announcing he wouldn't vote for the AHCA. Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican, and Joe Manchin, a Democrat, to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch as the next Supreme Court justice.

That means every tax cut has to be offset by a similar tax increase or a spending cut. He chose to start with the health care overhaul, which has proven to be a morass for many other politicians, including Hillary Clinton.

"Here's what I think about health care: Obamacare is a disaster and it's going to collapse", he said at the Columbia, South Carolina, event, drawing boos from the crowd.
